Inspired by Zen
The 7 principles of Zen philosophy: Kanso (simplicity); Fukinsei (asymmetry in nature); Shibumi (elegance); Shizen (natural); Daisuzoku (unconventionality); Sei-jaku (tranquillity); and Yūgen (allusion) inspire my ceramic practice.
My handmade ceramics are minimal, thoughtful and artistic in expression, every piece is unique and there are always slight variations. By embracing imperfection and impermanence, Wabi-sabi is inherent in my work.
I am always exploring different materials as a designer and fell in love with clay as it is such a sustainable and versatile medium. Being an avid matcha fan, I could not find katakuchi bowls easily in Nürnberg where I am based and decided to make one myself. The journey started with a short session with a local potter and after getting a potter’s wheel, I began to practice throwing all kinds of bowls and cups for daily tea and coffee rituals.

Handmade in Germany
All works are personally created out of my German studio with locally made and sourced materials (clay, glaze and heat). The whole process flows naturally and each piece is given ample time and attention at any stage, which takes about 1-2 months to complete. I hope everyone will feel this calmness through my hand thrown ceramics in their simple forms and serene hues for slow mindful living.
